Gala Torrighelli – Lifeguard

Gala Torrighelli – Lifeguard

Working in SPORTSCO for 3 weeks

Describe the role in your own words: I work as a lifeguard, ensuring the safety of all pool. I help maintain the pool area, monitor water quality, and create a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Qualifications: Lifegurard certification, first aid and CPR, AED certified and swimming instructor qualification

What do you enjoy most about the role: I enjoy helping people feel confident in the water and working in a positive team environment

Favourite part of the facility: Pool and Spa area

Fun Fact: I’m very passionate about water sports

Advice to someone new joining: Everyone is very friendly so always ask questions

Dylan Whelan – Fitness Instructor

Dylan Whelan – Fitness Instructor

Working in SPORTSCO for 3 years

Describe the role in your own words: I help people become stronger, fitter and more confident through structured training and coaching. I lead group fitness classes and work one on one with clients focusing on proper technique, consistency and building a positive mindset around training

Qualifications: Fitness Instructor (EQF level 3), Group Instructor (EQF Level 3) and Personal Trainer (EQF Level 4)

What do you enjoy most about the role: Seeing people grow in confidence or just getting better in themselves

Yana Lykhuta – Fitness Instructor

Yana Lykhuta – Fitness Instructor

Working in SPORTSCO for 2 months

Describe the role in your own words: I help clients improve their strength, mobility, endurance and overall fitness through personalized training programs. I focus on proper technique, injury prevention, and helping people feel confident and strong in their bodies.

Qualifications: Certified Personal Trainer 4

First Aid & CPR Certified

What do you enjoy most about the role: Helping people achieve their goals and seeing their progress over time. I enjoy motivating clients and making training both effective and enjoyable.

3 words to describe yourself: Motivated, supportive, energetic

Favourite part of the facility: The gym floor, the group fitness studios and functional training area.

Fun Fact: I love staying active

Advice to someone new joining: Start at your own pace, focus on proper technique, and stay consistent. Don’t be afraid to ask for help – we are here to support you.

Jason – Fitness Instructor

Describe the role in your own words: I help members feel confident and comfortable in the gym by offering guidance, support, and structure to their training. Whether it’s showing someone how to use equipment properly or helping them work toward specific goals, I’m there to make the gym feel approachable and effective for everyone.

Qualifications: Personal Trainer, fitness instructor, first aid

What do you enjoy most about the role: Firstly my spin classes, and getting to see people grow in confidence. A lot of members start unsure of themselves, and being part of the journey where they become more comfortable and consistent is the most rewarding part.

3 words to describe yourself: Fun, supportive, approachable

Favourite part of the facility: The gym floor or spin room when I’m doing a class

Fun Fact: I’m a very good singer

Favourite hobby: Strength training, especially push days and anything that lets me switch off mentally and focus.

Advice to someone new joining: Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take your time. Everyone starts somewhere, and the most important thing is just showing up consistently.

What makes SPORTSCO special: The community feel. It’s not just a gym, people actually support each other here, and that makes a big difference.

How will the members benefit from your skills: I don’t only come to do classes I like to build relationships with the members, I enjoy each and every one, I love to give constructive feedback on their training and even just having the chats in the gym or after classes


Katie – Receptionist

Katie – Receptionist

Describe the role in your own words: I greet people as they come in and answer any questions they may have, I also answer emails and phone calls as well as take payments for renewals, bookings and new memberships etc.

What do you enjoy most about the role: Getting to know the different members that come in every day

3 words to describe yourself: Kind, quiet and creative

Favourite part of the facility: The swimming pool

Fun Fact: I write fantasy novels

Favourite hobby: Writing and landscape photography

Advice to someone new joining: Go at your own pace and enjoy the different facilities we have

What makes SPORTSCO special: It's for everyone and there is a lot to offer no matter what level of fitness you are at.

How will the members benefit from your skills: If they are unsure of anything I can answer any of their questions or find the answers for them.


Leticia – Receptionist

Working in SPORTSCO for less than a year.

Describe the role in your own words: I work at the front desk, welcoming members and visitors, assisting with enquiries, and ensuring a smooth and positive experience from the moment they arrive. I also help manage daily reception tasks, support the team, and make sure all relevant information is communicated clearly.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in architecture and urbanism, along with additional certifications in Manual Handling, Customer Service, and related areas (I have also completed courses in various 3D software and others architecture-related)

What do you enjoy most about the role: I enjoy the dynamic nature of the role. No two days are the same, and I value the opportunity to interact with a wide range of people.

3 words to describe yourself: Approachable, organised, proactive

Favourite part of the facility: The reception area, as it is the first point of contact and sets the tone for the member experience. I enjoy being at the centre of daily activity and helping create a welcoming atmosphere.

Fun Fact: I’m originally from Brazil.

Favourite hobby: Kickboxing, as well as reading and drawing

Advice to someone new joining: Take the time to explore the facility and don’t hesitate to ask questions. The team is very supportive!

What makes SPORTSCO special: The strong sense of community and the friendly, supportive environment we create for both members and staff.

How will the members benefit from your skills: My background in customer service and attention to detail allows me to provide efficient support and ensure members feel welcomed, informed, and well looked after at all times.


Edith – Receptionist

Describe the role in your own words: I am here to greet members and visitors and assist them with anything they might need. This includes providing information, selling memberships and merchandise, booking facilities, and ensuring everyone gets to where they need to go.

Qualifications and Professional Background: Leaving Certificate (2023), training in customer service, sales, and front of house operations. I have worked in MCI Ireland doing events across the country and in F45 as part of the front of house and sales team. I am also currently studying biomedical engineering in UCD.

What do you enjoy most about the role: I love talking to new people every day and seeing everyone walk out happier after getting their blood pumping!

3 words to describe yourself: Kind, approachable, diligent

Favourite part of the facility: The padel and tennis courts, whenever I walk out there it always seems like the sun is shining.

Fun Fact: I enjoy knitting and crocheting and even make some of my own clothes.

Favourite hobby: I like playing tennis (although not very well!) and I love a nice cold dip in the sea come rain or shine.

Advice to someone new joining: Explore the facility! SPORTSCO has so much to offer and it can feel like a maze at first. Try out different areas. Visit the different courts, the pool, and the leisure suite, and take a class with one of the trainers. There’s so much more than just the gym.

What makes SPORTSCO special: I think SPORTSCO is unique in offering such a wide range of facilities and activities all in one place. The people here also make a real difference in creating a warm and welcoming environment.

How will the members benefit from your skills: I bring a friendly and approachable attitude to reception, helping members to feel welcome. With my experience in front-of-house roles, I’m confident assisting with any queries, bookings, or general support, and I always aim to make each visit as smooth and enjoyable as possible.


Stephen – Reception Supervisor

Working in SPORTSCO for 3 years in July!

Describe the role in your own words: I look after the reception team and keep things running smoothly day-to-day, making sure visitors and staff feel welcomed and supported.

Qualifications: My most recent qualifications are EQF Level 4 Personal Trainer and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition Coach

What do you enjoy most about the role: I like that every day is a bit different, and I get to interact with lots of people while supporting the team.

3 words to describe yourself: Friendly, organised, reliable

Favourite part of the facility: I’d say the reception area — it’s the first impression people get, and I enjoy being part of creating a welcoming atmosphere there.

Fun Fact: I have been to South America

Favourite hobby: Training in the gym
